Captain Michael A. Turner, commanding officer of Troop F, Jefferson City, announces the results of a DWI sobriety checkpoint conducted in Moniteau County on April 14, 2017.

The enforcement location was selected based on the high number of drinking- and impairment-related crashes, in addition to other traffic violations that contribute to unsafe driving behavior.

The DWI checkpoint was conducted at the intersection of Missouri Highway 87 and Missouri Route C. During the operation, officers stopped 105 vehicles. The following is a list of enforcement contacts made during the operation:

DWI Arrests -- 3
Minor in Possession of Intoxicants -- 1
Seat Belt Citation -- 1
Driver License Violations -- 3
Uninsured Motorist Violations -- 2
Misdemeanor Warrant Arrests -- 2
Misdemeanor Drug Arrests -- 2
Felony Warrant Arrests -- 2
Warnings -- 6

"The objective of DWI enforcement projects is to deter drinking and driving and to make citizens aware that drinking and impaired driving will not be tolerated," stated Captain Turner.

The only 100 percent survivable traffic crash is the one that never happens. Make sure everyone in the vehicle is properly restrained in a seat belt or child restraint. Every day as we travel on Missouri’s roadways, we trust that every driver on the road is going to obey the speed limit, pay attention, and drive sober. “Don’t Violate The Trust.”
