On Friday (Dec 1), Sedalia Police were dispatched to a local gas station for a report of an electronic device that was found in one of the gas pumps.

According to a report from the Sedalia Police Department, an employee at the gas station and a technician told officers the device was a "skimmer," which is used to acquire credit card information. The device was located at Plaza 16 gas station at 120 E. 16th Street.

The technician said the skimmer has to be plugged in to the inside of the credit card section at a gas pump. The report indicates the device could have been there for several weeks or months.

At this time, there are no reports of illegal credit card information being used from the device. Police say there are no suspects and the investigation is ongoing. No further details were listed in the report.
